We are Gurutu Twins, Messrs Glenn Fosbraey, Pete Falconer and Mark
Blake, all aged between 22 and 24. Between us, we have created what
can only be described as an original beast of an album. Whatever a
person’s age, gender or musical preference, they will find something
in the proverbial well of good fortune that is “The Monkeys are out
of luck.”
We urge you to put this album on repeat and try and get the melodies
out of your heads as you lie in your king-size beds of an evening.
Glenn and Pete have been writing songs for the best part of ten
years now, and have a huge and diverse stash waiting to be released
to the public. Each one of these songs contains a rich mixture of
hummable melodies complimented with biting lyrics which show no sign
of becoming bland and gut-wrenchingly schoolboy-esque like most of
the chart music you will hear today. The album enclosed within this
package contains narratives which explore the personas of a range of
established characters:
- (The Bounder’s Tale) A Terry-Thomas style Bounder who is now
losing his looks but is still able to ‘score away goals with his sly
and darting eyes’
- (Clive) ‘Scrag-End’ and ‘Square-Jaw’; a couple of simpletons who
take pleasure in ‘wrapping slacks around a tree’ and ‘mowing their
lawns at night.’
- (Self Portrait in a grey hat) A modern day Vincent Van Gogh, who
is trapped in an office job being belittled by pretentious fools who
are unaware of his prestigious artistic talent.
- (The Return of Monkey Harris) Monkey Harris; an intrepid explorer
who goes in search of his dream only to be subjected to a series of
nightmare-like atrocities.
- And of course, the hero of everyone’s favourite shark film, Chief
Brody.
Gurutu twins have enjoyed a lengthy slot on a local radio station in
their hometown of Southampton and are currently recording the
follow-up to this album and planning a tour.
All we ask is that you put on the CD, sit back and listen. The music
will now do the rest of the talking.
Regards,
Gurutu Twins.
